DHK Architects was the designer for this design-build team led by a joint venture between two construction companies, Consigli and J.F. White. The project had several components. One was a new 3,933 SF addition to accommodate a drop-table and crane equipment for change-outs, repair and storage of Acela trucks and wheel sets. A second provided upgrades to the Train Washer including new train washing equipment within the existing structure and a new 1,000 sq. ft. addition. Another was a new 1,122 SF pre-engineered metal Hazardous Materials Storage Building.
Additional work included a new emergency generator with automatic transfer switch (ATS), removal and replacement of the existing roofing system, and installation of a security access control and alarm system at specific egress doors. The fire alarm upgrades provided a fire alarm and communications system for the Administration Building, the Conventional Shop Service & Inspection Buildings, the Commissary, and the Train Washer.
