DHK developed a Master Plan to replace a group of precast concrete structures dating from 1969 with new town house units designed to recreate the urban fabric of the neighborhood. The new development consists of 102 units arrayed in ten buildings that front on public streets and cul-de-sacs. Each unit has its own private front and rear entrance and outdoor space and they all share a generous, landscaped common green in the center of the block. In addition, a new 5,000 sf community building provides space for management and resident functions. The design intent driving this project was to shape the buildings and site in a manner that created a sense of community within the development, while respecting the patterns of adjacent buildings and streets, something the 1969 project totally failed to do.
