This project involved the adaptive reuse and historic rehabilitation of a National Register structure built in 1901 as the main terminal of the elevated mass transit rail line that linked Roxbury to downtown Boston. Design services included the restoration reconstruction of the copper-clad steel structure and adapting it as a bus terminal, which required relocation of the building on the site and bringing the elevated structure down to grade level. DHK also designed new bus shelters, a new service building and extensive site improvements. The project required coordination with the Massachusetts Historical Commission and the Boston Redevelopment Authority.
