DHK Architects was a member of the team that designed the complete exterior restoration of this famous Beaux-Arts building in the heart of New York City. The scope of work included the repair and replacement of all copper and flat roofs, repair and cleaning of exterior limestone facades, granite base, water table, balusters and brick masonry at hidden locations. Other work required the restoration of upper level bronze entrance door assemblies and large-scale painted metal double windows (interior and exterior) with glass walkways. Additional scope included the restoration of statues including Cornelius Vanderbilt (bronze), and the limestone Minerva with the Tiffany glass clock in the center facing Park Avenue, surrounded by Mercury and Hercules. The work included full SHPO and NYC Landmarks approval process.
