Thirteen acres of green residential design define the 290 units of Markham Gardens Homes. This complete revitalization of the existing Markham Gardens housing project set a new standard for sustainability in affordable housing. The redevelopment plan was one of the first in the Northeast to garner full approval from the U.S. Green Building Council and achieve “LEED Silver” certification.
The project required the demolition of two-story buildings dating from World War II and new construction of three story townhouses that are well integrated with the character of the existing Port Richmond residential neighborhood. The buildings feature rear yards, front yards and porches and utilize up to date technology for sustainability and durability.
