John Gonzalez
John Gonzalez is a seasoned designer and project manager who manages some of DHK’s most challenging, complex assignments for public clients. His portfolio covers design for new construction and rehabilitation of rail and highway transportation projects located in dense urban areas that require utility relocation and complex construction phasing for traffic and station operation. He has developed extensive expertise with general transit station planning and design including vertical transportation systems, egress requirements, state and national building codes. John has also developed specialized expertise in subsurface projects that include large structures in deep underground open cuts, secant pile/slurry wall/ braced sheet pile structures, underwater tunnels and innovative waterproofing solutions.
Some examples of his transit work in Boston include renovations to State Street and Government Center stations on the Blue Line, the South Station Red Line and Transitway Stations. His highway experience includes the design of interior finishes for the Third Harbor Tunnel and a section of Boston’s Central Artery project. His award-winning design for the Vineyard Haven Ferry Terminal in Martha’s Vineyard has received broad recognition.
